An Act to facilitate participation in the reserve force

      Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

SHORT TITLE

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Reserve Force Act.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE

Leave of absence

2. (1) Every employee of the public service of Canada or of a federal Crown corporation may, subject to any terms and conditions established by the Governor in Council by regulation, take an annual leave of absence from the employee's employment for a period not exceeding two months for the purpose of undergoing training or drill or serving in the reserve force.

(2) The Minister of National Defence may enter into an agreement with any employer, other than an employer referred to in subsection (1), for the purpose of allowing an employee of the employer to take a leave of absence from the employee's employment for a period not exceeding two months for any of the purposes described in subsection (1).

Definition of ``employee''

(3) In this section, ``employee'' means an employee who is a member of the reserve force.

Regulations

3. The Governor in Council may make regulations establishing terms and conditions for the purposes of subsection 2(1).
