RECOMMENDATION

His Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled ``An Act to establish programs for the marketing of agricultural products, to repeal the Agricultural Products Board Act, the Agricultural Products Cooperative Marketing Act, the Advance Payments for Crops Act and the Prairie Grain Advance Payments Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts''.

SUMMARY

This enactment combines four Acts into a single Act that provides support for the marketing of agricultural products. This support involves

    - guarantees of the repayment of advance payments for crops and the payment of interest on a portion of the advance payments;

    - price guarantees for agricultural products marketed cooperatively; and

    - government purchases, sales and importation of agricultural products.

The enactment also provides for the recovery of administration costs, creates offences, requires reports to Parliament, abolishes the Agricultural Products Board and makes consequential amendments to other Acts.
