Members of the public can obtain a copy by the contacting the Information Service at the Library of Parliament.<br/><br/>On 3 March 2017, Minister of Justice introduced Bill C-39, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (unconstitutional provisions) and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, in the House of Commons and it was given first reading. <br/><br/>Bill C-39 amends the Criminal Code to, among other things, remove passages and repeal provisions that have been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of Canada. It also repeals section 159 of that Act and provides that no person shall be convicted of any historical offence of a sexual nature unless the act that constitutes the offence would constitute an offence under the Criminal Code if it were committed on the day on which the charge was laid. It also makes consequential amendments to the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and the Youth Criminal Justice Act.</div> <div>La version préliminaire du présent résumé législatif est maintenant disponible. Les membres du public peuvent en obtenir un exemplaire auprès du Service de renseignements de la Bibliothèque du Parlement. <br/><br/>Le 3 mars 2017, le Ministre de la Justice a déposé le projet de loi C-39, Loi modifiant le Code criminel (dispositions inconstitutionnelles) et apportant des modifications corrélatives à d'autres lois, à la Chambre des communes en première lecture. <br/><br/>Le projet de loi C-39 modifie le Code criminel pour notamment supprimer des passages et abroger des dispositions qui ont été jugés inconstitutionnels par la Cour suprême du Canada. Il abroge également l’article 159 de cette loi et prévoit que nul ne peut être déclaré coupable d’une infraction historique d’ordre sexuel sauf si l’acte reproché constituerait une infraction au Code criminel s’il était commis à la date où l’accusation est portée.
