SUMMARY

Le texte modifie la Loi sur les poids et mesures afin, notamment de clarifier les attributions du ministre de l’Industrie et des inspecteurs, de conférer au ministre certains pouvoirs concernant, entre autres, l’échantillonnage aux fins d’examen des instruments et la prise de mesures correctives et préventives et de conférer aux inspecteurs certains pouvoirs.

This enactment amends the Weights and Measures Act to, among other things, clarify existing powers, duties and functions of the Minister of Industry and inspectors, provide the Minister with certain powers, including with respect to sampling when devices are examined and with respect to corrective and preventive measures, and provide inspectors with certain powers.

Il modifie aussi la Loi sur l’inspection de l’électricité et du gaz afin, notamment, d’élargir la définition de « compteur », de conférer au président le pouvoir d’accorder certaines exemptions, de clarifier les étapes précédant la mise en service d’un appareil, de clarifier les attributions du ministre et des inspecteurs, de conférer au ministre certains pouvoirs concernant, entre autres, l’échantillonnage aux fins d’examen des compteurs et la prise de mesures correctives et préventives et de conférer aux inspecteurs certains pouvoirs.

It also amends the Electricity and Gas Inspection Act to, among other things, broaden the definition of “meter”, provide the president with the authority to grant certain exemptions, clarify the steps required to put a device into service, clarify existing powers, duties and functions of the Minister and inspectors, provide the Minister with certain powers, including with respect to sampling when meters are examined and with respect to corrective and preventive measures, and provide inspectors with certain powers.

Il abroge également certaines dispositions du Règlement sur les poids et mesures et du Règlement sur l’inspection de l’électricité et du gaz. Enfin, il prévoit des dispositions transitoires.

It also repeals certain provisions in the Weights and Measures Regulations and the Electricity and Gas Inspection Regulations. Finally, it includes transitional provisions.
