Coming Into Force
27. (1) Subject to subsection (2), this Act comes into force six months after the day on which it is assented to unless, before that time, the Chief Electoral Officer has published a notice in the Canada Gazette that the necessary preparations for the bringing into operation of this Act have been made and that this Act may come into force accordingly.

(2) This Act may not come into force before January 2, 2004. If it receives royal assent on or before June 27, 2004, it may not come into force after that date.
