SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Criminal Code to increase from five years to ten years the maximum punishment for an offence under section 172.1 (luring a child). It also specifies that, in the case of a summary conviction for this offence, the maximun punishment is eighteen months.
SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie le Code criminel afin de porter de cinq ans à dix ans la peine maximale d'emprisonnement pour une infraction visée à l'article 172.1 (leurre). Il précise également que, en cas de déclaration de culpabilité par procédure sommaire, la peine maximale pour cette infraction est de dix-huit mois.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
Sa Majesté, sur l'avis et avec le consentement du Sénat et de la Chambre des communes du Canada, édicte :

1. Paragraphs 172.1(2)(a) and (b) of the Criminal Code are replaced by the following:
1. Les alinéas 172.1(2)a) et b) du Code criminel sont remplacés par ce qui suit :
(a) an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than ten years; or
(b) an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding eighteen months.
a) soit d'un acte criminel passible d'un emprisonnement maximal de dix ans;
b) soit d'une infraction punissable sur déclaration de culpabilité par procédure sommaire et passible d'un emprisonnement maximal de dix-huit mois.
