An Act respecting Christian Heritage Month

Preamble

Whereas the month of December marks significant events and celebrations in the Christian calendar, from the beginning of Advent to the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ;

Whereas Christianity has profoundly influenced the principles of compassion, justice and service upon which Canada is founded;

Whereas Canada’s Christian community has made significant contributions to the growth and prosperity of Canada throughout its history;

And whereas it is essential to honour and celebrate the diverse expressions of faith that continue to enrich our communities;

Now, therefore, His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

2Throughout Canada, in each year and every year, the month of December is to be known as “Christian Heritage Month”.
