SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi sur le ministère des Femmes et de l’Égalité des genres afin d’exiger que le ministre des Femmes et de l’Égalité des genres examine les effets possibles de certains projets de loi et amendements sur les femmes et qu’il fasse rapport au Parlement en conséquence.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Department for Women and Gender Equality Act to require the Minister for Women and Gender Equality to examine the potential effects of certain bills and amendments on women and to report to Parliament accordingly.

Examination of Government Bills
5.1 (1) Le ministre examine chaque projet de loi déposé à l’une ou l’autre des chambres du Parlement par un ministre fédéral ou tout autre représentant du gouvernement et fait déposer, devant la chambre où le projet de loi a pris naissance, un énoncé qui indique les effets possibles du projet de loi sur les femmes, en particulier les femmes autochtones.
End of inserted block5.1 (1) The Minister must examine every Bill introduced in either House of Parliament by a minister or other representative of the Crown and cause to be tabled, in the House in which the Bill originates, a statement that sets out potential effects of the Bill on women, particularly Indigenous women.

5.2 (1) Si un projet de loi qui n’a pas été examiné en application du paragraphe 5.1(1) est renvoyé à un comité de la chambre où le projet de loi a pris naissance, le ministre l’examine et fait déposer devant cette chambre un énoncé qui indique les effets possibles du projet de loi sur les femmes, en particulier les femmes autochtones.
End of inserted block5.2 (1) If a Bill that was not examined under subsection 5.1(1) is referred to a committee of the House in which the Bill originates, the Minister must examine the Bill and cause to be tabled, in the House in which the Bill originates, a statement that sets out potential effects of the Bill on women, particularly Indigenous women.

5.3 Si un projet de loi amendé par la chambre où il a pris naissance est reçu par l’autre chambre, le ministre y fait déposer, au plus tard sept jours de séance après la date de réception de ce projet de loi par l’autre chambre, un énoncé qui indique les effets possibles sur les femmes, en particulier les femmes autochtones, des amendements adoptés par la chambre où ce projet de loi a pris naissance.
End of inserted block5.3 If a Bill is amended by the House in which it originates and that Bill is received by the other House, the Minister must, no later than seven sitting days after the other House receives the Bill, cause to be tabled in that House a statement that sets out potential effects of amendments made by the House in which the Bill originates on women, particularly Indigenous women.

Transitional Provision
2 Les articles 5.1 à 5.4 de la Loi sur le ministère des Femmes et de l’Égalité des genres ne s’appliquent qu’à l’égard des projets de loi déposés devant le Parlement au moins six mois après la date de sanction de la présente loi.
2 Sections 5.1 to 5.4 of the Department for Women and Gender Equality Act apply only in respect of a Bill introduced in Parliament on or after the day that is six months after the day on which this Act receives royal assent.
