SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi sur le ministère de l’Environnement pour prévoir l’établissement par le ministre d’un plan d’action sur la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre et l’examen indépendant de l’efficacité de ce plan.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Department of the Environment Act to provide for the establishment by the Minister of a greenhouse gas emissions reduction plan and the independent review of the effectiveness of this plan.

1 La Loi sur le ministère de l’Environnement est modifiée par adjonction, après l’article 5, de ce qui suit :
1 The Department of the Environment Act is amended by adding the following after section 5:
Plan d’action sur la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre
Greenhouse gas emissions reduction action plan
5.1 (1) Le ministre établit un plan d’action sur la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre qui prévoit des cibles de réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre ainsi que les mesures à prendre pour atteindre ces cibles, et qui tient compte des engagements internationaux du Canada à cet égard.
End of inserted block5.1 (1) The Minister shall establish a greenhouse gas emissions reduction action plan that sets out greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets and the measures to be taken to attain those targets, and that takes into consideration Canada’s international commitments in that regard.

Independent review
(2) Le ministre fait procéder, annuellement, à un examen indépendant de l’efficacité du plan d’action et des progrès réalisés en matière de réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre.
End of inserted block(2) Each year, the Minister shall cause to be conducted an independent review of the effectiveness of the action plan and the progress made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

(3) Le ministre révise le plan d’action suivant chaque examen indépendant mené en application du paragraphe (2).
