This enactment designates the 26th day of May in each and every year as a day to honour Canada’s marine industry.

An Act respecting a day to honour Canada's marine industry
WHEREAS Canada recognizes the importance of its rich marine history and the importance of the marine industry today;
WHEREAS the marine industry handles Canada’s imports, exports, domestic shipments and millions of annual cruise passengers;
WHEREAS the Parliament of Canada wishes to pay special tribute to the marine industry for the many benefits that it provides to this country;
AND WHEREAS Canada would like to honour those who currently serve and who have served as merchant mariners in service to their country;
NOW, THEREFORE, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
SHORT TITLE
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the National Marine Day Act.
NATIONAL MARINE DAY
National Marine Day
2. Throughout Canada, in each and every year, the 26th day of May shall be known as “National Marine Day”.
Not a legal holiday
3. For greater certainty, National Marine Day is not a legal holiday or a non-juridical day.
