This enactment re-enacts section 90.1 of the Immigration Act in order to enable the Governor in Council to bring it back into force. Although the section is identical to the section replaced, the replaced section ceased to have effect on July 1, 1989.

Section 90.1 allows the responsible Minister to direct that a vehicle not enter the internal waters of Canada or the territorial sea of Canada and, where a vehicle has entered, allows the Minister to direct that the vehicle be escorted to the nearest port.
