SUMMARY

This enactment amends the Employment Insurance Act as follows:

    (a) the obligation for the Canada Employment Insurance Commission to fix the premium rate with the approval of the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Minister of Human Resources Development is amended and the Commission sets the premium rate by itself; and

    (b) On September 1 of each and every year, the amounts received in the preceding financial year by the Consolidated Revenue Fund under the Employment Insurance Act that have not been used by the Consolidated Revenue Fund to meet its obligations under this Act during that financial year are credited to the Employment Insurance Account.
