An Act to require that in the advertising and at the opening of a cultural project supported by public money a public acknowledgement of the grant be made

      Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Cultural Grants Acknowledgement Act.

Definitions

2. In this Act,

``funded project''
« opération subvention-
née
»

``funded project'' means any good, service, work or project related to culture that is as sisted with a grant and is made or provided for the benefit of the public or a class of the public;

``grant''
« subvention »

``grant'' means a payment, contribution, loan, guarantee of a loan or other method of fund ing that is a charge on public funds, made under the authority of an Act administered by the Minister to finance, in whole or in part, a funded project;

``Minister''
« ministre »

``Minister'' means the Minister of Canadian Heritage.

gement

3. At the time that a funded project is

    (a) announced or advertised to the public, and

    (b) first opened, commenced or made available to the public or class of the public for whom it is intended,

the recipient of the grant shall acknowledge that the funded project is supported by a grant and specify the amount of the grant in the man ner prescribed in the regulations and shall sub mit to the Minister, in the prescribed form, a certificate that the acknowledgement has been made.

Regulations

4. For the purposes of section 3, the Minister may make regulations

    (a) specifying the time and manner in which an acknowledgement shall be made; and

    (b) prescribing the form of a certificate.

Penalty

5. The Minister may require any organiza tion that fails to comply with any provision of this Act to repay or release to Her Majesty in right of Canada all or any of the grant that has been paid in respect of the funded project.
