SUMMARYThis enactment repeals paragraph 207(4)(b) of the Criminal Code to make it lawful for the government of a province, or a person or entity licensed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council of that province, to conduct and manage a lottery scheme in the province that involves betting on a race or fight or on a single sport event or athletic contest.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:Short Title

Short title1Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act.

2Subsection 207(4) of the Criminal Code is amended by adding “or” at the end of paragraph (a) and by repealing paragraph (b).

Coming Into Force

Order in council3This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.
