BILL C-220
An Act respecting a National Brain Health Education and Awareness Month
Whereas it is the view of Parliament that the Government of Canada should take all necessary measures in order to educate the people of Canada to enhance their understanding of brain health, including brain diseases, disorders and injuries, and to ensure that brain health research is fully funded and preventive measures, treatment and support are universally accessible;
Whereas it is also the view of Parliament that the Government of Canada should take all necessary measures to confirm its commitment to improving the quality of life of all persons who live with a brain disease, disorder or injury, and of their families and informal caregivers;
And whereas Parliament considers it important to recognize the difficulties faced in their everyday lives by Canadians who suffer from chronic brain diseases, disorders and injuries and to recognize and demonstrate support for the family members, friends and health care professionals and community service and voluntary sector workers who provide assistance and support to these Canadians, as well as for the field of dedicated researchers who work tirelessly to better understand the experiences of those afflicted, to improve treatments, and ultimately to discover cures;
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
