On 10 December 2009, The Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians introduced Bill C-63, An Act to amend the First Nations Commercial and Industrial Development Act and another Act in consequence thereof (First Nations Certainty of Land Title Act), in the House of Commons and it was given first reading.
Bill C-63 amends the First Nations Commercial and Industrial Development Act to expand the existing regulation-making powers in order to permit the registration of on-reserve commercial real estate developments in a system that replicates the provincial land titles or registry system, for first nations that desire it.
