SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie le Tarif des douanes afin d’interdire l’importation de marchandises fabriquées dans la Région autonome ouïghoure du Xinjiang de la République populaire de Chine.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Customs Tariff to prohibit the importation of goods manufactured in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China.

Préambule
Attendu :
que le Parti communiste chinois se livre à une série de violations des droits de la personne dans le cadre d’un génocide contre les Ouïghours et les autres musulmans turciques ainsi que d’autres minorités ethniques et religieuses dans la Région autonome ouïghoure du Xinjiang de la République populaire de Chine;
que de nombreux organismes internationaux et États, dont les États-Unis d’Amérique et le Royaume-Uni, ont reconnu que ces actes constituent un génocide;
que la Chambre des communes a reconnu que les violations incessantes des droits de la personne commises à l’endroit des Ouïghours et des autres musulmans turciques constituent un génocide;
que le Sénat a réclamé l’imposition de sanctions au titre de la loi de Magnitski à l’encontre de représentants du Parti communiste chinois pour leur implication dans ces actes génocidaires;
que le Canada est un pays fondé sur la primauté du droit, la liberté de religion et les principes de respect des droits fondamentaux de la personne,
Preamble
Whereas the Chinese Communist Party is engaged in a series of human rights abuses as part of an ongoing genocide against Uyghur and Turkic Muslims and other ethnic and religious minorities in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China;
Whereas these actions have been recognized as a genocide by numerous international bodies and jurisdictions including the United States of America and the United Kingdom;
Whereas the House of Commons has recognized the ongoing human rights abuses committed against Uyghur and Turkic Muslims as genocide;
Whereas the Senate has called for Magnitsky sanctions against officials of the Chinese Communist Party for their involvement in these genocidal actions;
And whereas Canada is a nation built on the rule of law, freedom of religion and the principles of basic human rights;
