SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi sur le Parlement du Canada afin de prévoir que le Parlement ne peut être prorogé durant plus d’un certain nombre de jours ni durant certaines périodes.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Parliament of Canada Act to provide that Parliament is not to be prorogued for more than a specified number of days or during certain periods.

1 La Loi sur le Parlement du Canada est modifiée par adjonction, après l’article 3, de ce qui suit :
1 The Parliament of Canada Act is amended by adding the following after section 3:

3.1 Le Parlement ne peut être prorogé :
-
a) durant plus de dix jours censés être des jours de séance de la Chambre des communes d’après le calendrier de l’année déposé devant cette chambre conformément au Règlement de la Chambre des communes;
-
b) plus d’une fois par période de douze mois après l’ouverture d’une session du Parlement;
-
c) entre le jour du dépôt des prévisions budgétaires du gouvernement devant la Chambre des communes et le dernier jour de la période allouée pour l’étude de ces prévisions par cette chambre.

3.1 Parliament shall not be prorogued
-
(a) for more than 10 days that are, according to the calendar for the year tabled in the House of Commons under the Standing Orders of the House of Commons, projected to be sitting days of that House;
-
(b) more than once during any 12-month period after the beginning of a session of Parliament; or
-
(c) between the day on which the estimates of the government are tabled in the House of Commons and the final day of the period allotted to the consideration of those estimates by that House.
