SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Criminal Code to prescribe a minimum punishment of five years when a kidnap victim is under sixteen years of age.

An Act to amend the Criminal Code (kidnapping of young person)
R.S., c. C-46
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Subsection 279(1.1) of the Criminal Code is amended by striking out “and” at the end of paragraph (a.1) and by adding the following after that paragraph:
(a.2) if the person referred to in paragraph (1)(a), (b) or (c) is under 16 years of age, to imprisonment for life and to a minimum punishment of imprisonment for a term of five years; and
