The Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations met at 8:35 a.m., this day, in room 256-S, Centre Block, the joint chair, the Honourable Yonah Martin, presiding.

Representing the Senate: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Harb, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Martin and Moore (5).

Representing the House of Commons: Rob Anders, Gérard Asselin, Ray Boughen, Rod Bruinooge, Gordon Brown, Rob Clarke, Marlene Jennings, Andrew Kania, Derek Lee, Brian Masse and Andrew Saxton (11).

Also present: Graeme Truelove, Joint Clerk of the Committee (House of Commons); Peter Bernhardt, General Counsel, and Shawn Abel, Counsel, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The House of Commons joint clerk presided over the election of the joint chair, House of Commons.

Mr. Saxton moved that Mr. Kania be joint chair of the committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The House of Commons joint clerk presided over the election of the vice-chairs.

Mr. Saxton moved that Mr. Anders be vice-chair of the committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

Mr. Kania moved that Mr. Masse be vice-chair of the committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The committee considered its agenda.

At 8:43 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the joint chairs.
