The Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations met at 8:40 a.m., this day, in room 256-S, Centre Block, the Joint Chairmen, Senator Céline Hervieux-Payette and Gurmant Grewal, M.P., presiding.

Members of the committee present:

Representing the Senate: The Honourable Senators: Sheila Finestone, P.C., Normand Grimard, Céline Hervieux-Payette (3).

Representing the House of Commons: Gurmant Grewal, Pierrette Venne, and Tom Wappel (3).

It was agreed, -- That Counsel to the Committee correspond with the Designated Instruments Officer of the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada with respect to certain comments made by the committee.

On the 5th Commonwealth Conference on Delegation Legislation in the Summer of 2000,

The Honourable Sheila Finestone moved, -- That the Co-chairs of Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations be authorized to prepare a budget proposal for review and adoption by this committee at its next meeting on April 6, 2000 to host the 5th Commonwealth Conference on Delegation Legislation in the summer of 2000.

The question being put on question, it was agreed to.
